This project (which was started at Michelle Kaufmann Designs and managed by Studio 101 Designs through completion) consists of a 3 bedroom single family residence with detached carport, tennis court and pool. The Kenwood house is based on a Kaufmann pre-configured design. This retreat is located on a vineyard in wine country, and utilizes woven willow trellis panels for patio shading, and cross ventilation in the large living/dining area to mitigate heat gain from the warm summer sun. Some of its 'green' features include low-flow plumbing fixtures, low-VOC paint, FSC certified cedar siding and cabinetry, a 4kW grid-tied photovoltaic system, 2 solar thermal systems (one for providing the domestic hot water, and one for supplementing the swimming pool heater), and radiant in-floor heating in the central living/dining area.
The entire house was comprised of factory built modules assembled on site, while the carport, decks, pool, and site improvements were site built. Photography by Studio 101 Designs
