Scott Landry, James Kean and Andrew Faust served as the project team for this 3 bedroom single family residence while at Michelle Kaufmann Designs. The Menlo Park house is based on one of Kaufmann's preconfigured designs maximizing the buildable envelope on its lot. Located on a busy suburban street, its front courtyard features a screen wall and water feature for visual and acoustic privacy. Some of its 'green' features include low-flow plumbing fixtures, low-VOC paint, bamboo flooring, FSC certified cedar siding and cabinetry, and radiant in-floor heating in the central living/dining area. The house was built solar-ready to facilitate future photovoltaic system installation.
The clients moved in to their new house 5 months after demolishing their existing house. The majority of the house was comprised of factory built modules assembled on site, while the garage, connector (with laundry and mudroom), and site improvements were site built.
