Studio 101 Designs is serving as the project manager for this Michelle Kaufmann designed residence situated on a waterfront, radial site with sweeping, spectacular views to Miami. The house (which is designed to accommodate a large, extended family) is laid out as a series of detached tropical modern pavilions. The pavilion-like layout allows each unit to be heated and cooled separately, realizing a substantial savings on operating costs and minimizing the environmental impact. Each of the buildings are designed to take advantage of the Southern Florida climate; extensive use of glass rolling doors maximizes natural day-lighting and allows the spaces to be opened completely to the outside or fine tuned to fit the situation.
The project includes many sustainable features including: no-VOC paint, bamboo flooring, low-flow plumbing fixtures, energy efficient appliances, super Low-E glazing, a large solar photovoltaic array and a highly efficient HVAC system.
